Dozens of companies are racing to develop autonomous vehicles, and they’re already beginning to hit the streets in demonstration projects all over the country. Government agencies are talking about regulations. Insurance companies are talking about liability. Everyone else is either lining up to jump on the autonomous vehicle bandwagon or to decry the potential dangers of this modern technology. What about us? Will blind and low-vision consumers be liberated or left on the side of the road? This month, we talked to Chris Webb, CEO of Foresight Augmented Reality, a semi-finalist in the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Inclusive Design Challenge: Working to Make Autonomous Vehicles Accessible for All. Chris shared an update on the work that his company and others are doing to address fundamental accessibility challenges, and, of course, we fielded your questions. This is a chance to dream of a future when anyone, including those of us who are blind or have low vision, can simply get in a car, and go. Sponsored by Accessible Avenue
