# Hello ACB history buffs: We are now in Chapter 8 of People of Vision: A History of the American Council of the Blind, by James J. Megivern and Marjorie L. Megivern, copyright 2003 by the American Council of the Blind. This chapter will take about 3.5 hours to read. It covers 1968 through 1981, so we know many of the people who are mentioned in these pages. If you are one of the people mentioned, please plan to attend and talk with us about how it was. Tell us your story in less than five minutes so everyone may speak. Please read and be prepared to join in the discussion. Events happen rapidly in both ACB and NFB. See which chapters were dropped from NFB and which affiliated with ACB.

We have now had 60 national conventions, dozens of legislative seminars, countless affiliate conventions and chapter meetings, and lots and lots of socials. Each one has had a major achievement or happening, something hysterically funny you will never forget, a very moving moment, a new friendship or other relationship. Come share your favorite moments or maybe it’s even an embarrassing incident. It’s all in good taste and camaraderie.

ACB History buffs, wow! This is such a momentous and historical event on behalf of the blind and democracy. We are now into chapter 7, Part Three, ACB: The First 40 Years. Please grab a copy of this book, People of Vision: A History of the American Council of the Blind, by Janes J. Megivern and Marjorie L. Megivern, copyright 2003 by the American Council of the Blind. It is available on BARD, through BookShare, and for purchase on a thumb drive from the ACB Mini Mall. Chapter 7 will take about three hours to read, and like Chapter 6, is packed with events, changes, and additions. I was not aware that the ACB began as an individual membership organization. Can you believe it? Our ACB community began on March 17 with two calls that week. Today we celebrate our five thousandth event. Please join us to share what Community means to you, email your thoughts, or do both. Here are some questions to ponder. How did you learn about our community events and when did you attend your first one? How often are you able to participate in ACB community events and if you had to pick your top three, which would they be? How have ACB Community events impacted your life during the Covid-19 pandemic and what does the ACB Community mean to you?
